The successful incumbent will be responsible for providing transportation duties as an official driver on the project within the districts and region as well as carrying out all duties and responsibilities related to this position with the required diligence, efficiency, safety and security of the driver and all passengers.

Key focus areas:
 
Transporting

• Drives staff around locally or around the country in a safe manner, as instructed through the reporting line.
• Execute messenger duties in a safe and responsible manner by collecting and delivering documents or equipment as instructed through the reporting line.

• Ensures that the vehicle is serviced as per the respective vehicle service schedule.
• Report any vehicle defects (structural and or mechanical) in a timely manner.
• Ensures that the vehicle is clean before and after each trip,
• Checking the condition of the vehicle’s tyres including tyre pressure before each trip.
• Checking the vehicle's oil and water regularly.
• Checking for any other faults e.g. scratches, or dents before operating the vehicle.
• Maintaining the overall condition of the vehicle.
• Duly report any vehicle accidents in accordance with the prescribed standard and timeframe.

Administration

• Maintains proper transport logs and records of daily trips.
• Ensures that vehicle keys, petrol cards, logbooks and where relevant receipts are handed in for safekeeping before going off duty.
• Submits information and assists with the compilation of transport reports.
• Adhere to the prescribed vehicle operating procedures as outlined in the COAG Asset and Logistics guidelines.
• In accordance with the employment contract/agreement, submit Performance Agreements and subsequent reviews diligently.

General

• Carries out any lawful and reasonable instructions as instructed through the reporting line.

Added Advantages | Special Requirement(s)

Minimum requirements:

 

• Must be in possession of a Code 8 (B) Driver's Licence.
• A Valid Public Drivers Permit is a critical requirement
• Must be in possession of a Valid Police Clearance Certificate.
• Mechanical inclination with proven experience in minor repairs.
• Must be able to read, speak and write in English as well as one of the local languages.
